You’ve spent years driving to rehearsals, styling their hair, cheering from the wings - all to help them discover their passion and shine on stage. Discovery Call

I'll find out more about your dancer and the kind of photos they'd love to have, so I can tailor the session to suit.

Photo Shoot

The in-studio session is fun, creative, and fully guided from start to finish. We'll work through multiple looks and costume changes, and I'll direct everything so your dancer can just focus on being themselves in front of the camera.

Design Consultation

At the end of the shoot, you'll enjoy all your images for the first time on the big screen. You'll choose your 5 favourite edited digital images on the day

Your Delight Images dance portrait experience is just $695 which includes the above, and $50 to spend towards artwork.

G'day! I'm Jay.

I’m a portrait photographer based in the beautiful Sutherland Shire in Sydney.

Being a dad to three (STUNNING) girls has shown me just how important it is to be in the photos, not just taking them.

My approach is super simple: I get to know you,, keep the session relaxed and fun, and create portraits that actually feel like you.

When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me at home with my crew, baking banana bread in the air fryer and having cuddles with Bonnie (our sooky blue Staffy).

What age is best for a dancer photo shoot?

There’s no “perfect” age – every stage of your dancer’s journey is worth celebrating. Whether they’re just starting ballet in their first tutu or preparing for their final competition season, we capture the grace, technique, and personality they’ve developed so far.

What should my dancer wear?

Most families choose their dancer’s favourite leotard, tutu, or costume, plus a few extra outfits for variety. Bring ballet shoes or pointe shoes if they have them.

Can we include different dance styles in one session?

Absolutely. If your dancer trains in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, or contemporary, we can capture them all. Each look can be styled and lit to suit the mood and movement of the dance style.

My child isn’t a professional ballerina – is this still for us?

Absolutely. These sessions are about celebrating their unique dance journey, no matter what stage they’re at. Whether they’ve just mastered their first plié or they’re preparing for nationals, their dedication and joy are worth capturing.

How do you help my dancer feel comfortable in front of the camera?

My sessions are relaxed, encouraging, and tailored to your dancer’s personality. I guide them with simple posing tips, help with hand and foot placement, and create a fun, pressure-free environment so they can shine.

Where do the sessions take place?

All sessions are held in my Sutherland photography studio. The space is designed for both artistic dance portraits and striking full-body movement shots, with professional lighting to highlight every detail. Allow around 90 minutes for your photo shoot, and another hour to select and order your images.

How do we choose our photos?

After your session, you'll be treated to an exciting slideshow of your images on the big screen. I’ll then guide you through selecting and ordering your favourites.
