I have a confession…
I don’t photograph my kids enough… so last week, I set out to change that.
You know how a chef will sometimes grab Maccas on the way home from work? Or how a fashion designer lives in trackies on the weekend?
I realised I’m the same with photography. I spend so much time capturing beautiful memories for other families that I sometimes forget to take proper photos of my own girls.
So I set aside a little time, with no pressure, to just play with the camera and capture Scarlett in her happy place – dancing.
After 9 years of dance, she’s truly in her element. At one point doing the shoot she looked at me and said:
“I LOVE doing this – I want to do dance photo shoots every single day!” (I melted)
It was such a joy to slow down, watch her shine, and create these images (and play with more moody studio and lighting setups I don’t normally do for families). I thought you might like to see a few behind the scenes moments too.
Needless to say, I think I might be falling in love with dance photography (and may or may not have already started messaging friends with dance kids to come in model for me).
