From Gift to Keepsake: A Meaningful Family Photo Session in the Sutherland Shire

It all started with a thoughtful Christmas gift. Sherrol’s mum happened to walk past my studio and noticed the sign outside. Knowing that Sherrol and Daniel didn’t have newborn photos taken of their little Theodore, she decided to book a session for them.

That decision turned into something truly special: a set of beautiful canvases featuring their favorite family moments, now proudly displayed along their hallway.

Their story, like their portraits, is full of heart and meaning.

Theodore’s arrival was nothing short of miraculous. “With our TCC journey being a challenge,” Sherrol shared, “we felt Theodore was a gift from God. The meaning behind his name makes us so grateful for our best gift ever.” His name wasn’t just a name—it was a testament to their faith, patience, and joy.

Though Theodore was meant to make his debut in April, he had other plans. “I guess he couldn’t wait to meet us, so he came a week earlier than expected!”. And what better way to introduce him to the world than with a Christmas announcement—a season that holds a special place in Sherrol’s heart.

Parenthood, as Sherrol and Daniel quickly learned, is full of surprises—big and small. “Daniel was surprised he could change diapers with ease and wasn’t phased by it!”, Sherrol told me. For her, the challenges of breastfeeding stood out. “I’ve faced so many internal and emotional battles since Theodore was born. I’m grateful for my persistence and my amazing husband cheering me on. He’s reminded me that mix feeding is okay, and seeing Theodore thrive puts me at peace.” Amen to that! You have to do what works for your baby.

And thrive he does! Theodore’s cheeky smiles and laughs light up their days – I mean, look at him beaming in these photos. “Everything about being a mum is amazing,” Sherrol reflected. “But those little moments—his smiles, his laugh—they’re the best ever.”

Sherrol says she sees a little bit of both herself and Daniel. “I baked a mini version of Theodore’s dad but with my eyes and personality” . Those distinctive traits are now captured forever in their family’s portraits.

Sherrol and Daniel’s family portraits aren’t just photos—they’re heirlooms. They chose to display their collection as a series of stunning canvases that now hang along their hallway. Every time they walk past them, they’ll be reminded of the love, joy, and resilience that brought them to this moment.

Their story is a testament to the power of family, faith, and perseverance. And thanks to a chance encounter with a sign outside my studio, it’s one they can treasure forever.
