meet my family...

G’day, I’m Jay! I’m a family portrait photographer based in Sydney, Australia. Specifically, the Sutherland Shire which is affectionately called “God’s country” by the locals (and nobody else).

Here are 8 things you might not know about me:

1️⃣ I’m a proud dad of 3 girls and married to the love of my life, Cath, who has somehow put up with me for more than 15 years

2️⃣ I’m also dad to a gorgeous blue Staffy, Bonnie, who is the most sooky, affectionate dog on the planet

3️⃣ I’ve been a full-time photographer for over 16 years (please don’t try and guess my age)

4️⃣ I mainly photographed weddings (and still do), but the pandemic gave me time and perspective to launch my family portrait business

5️⃣ I absolutely LOVE working with kids. Nothing makes me happier than walking away from a family photo shoot, exhausted but exhilirated, knowing that I captured some beautiful photos for a family who sometimes have never had proper photos together before.

6️⃣ I’m a massive homebody. My favourite days are when we’re all pottering around the house, playing some Ed Sheeran in between rounds of Uno

7️⃣ My entire family portrait experience is designed with the end goal of giving my clients beautiful, hand-crafted artwork that they can display proudly at home and cherish forever. It's a great feeling knowing that my work is being displayed and enjoyed in my clients' homes.

8️⃣ I’d like to say I have a hobby, but if you’ve got kids you’ll know just how hard it is to find time and energy for yourself! Does a scotch and an episode of Game of Thrones count as a hobby? 😂

The photos I treasure most of my own family are the real, raw moments between us, and it has been my mission to capture those same images for every family I photograph.

I do this by getting to know each of my clients, understanding not only who is in their family, but what each person means to them and the little things that make them so special. This enables me to creatively tell their story in a way that is unique to them.
